What Is VGC?
VGC stands for Video Game Championships, the official competitive Pokémon circuit hosted by The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo. It’s where players around the world test their skills in high-level, structured battles for prizes, glory, and a chance to compete on the biggest stage Pokémon offers.
While “VGC” technically refers to the official tournament series, many players also use it to describe the Standard ruleset used in these competitions, which rotates each season to keep the meta evolving.

Europe: Players accumulate points through National and Regional events, with leading players across Europe and Africa earning Worlds invitations.
Japan and South Korea: Typically use a mix of online ladders and National Championships to determine Worlds invites.
Australia: Players compete in Regional and National events, with top performers advancing to Worlds.
